Hey y'all. I'm looking to trade some Macasser Ebony parts for some Jet Black Ebony parts. Here is what I need. 1 FB - must be rectangular, not tapered. I want to get off cuts for fb binding. 1 Bridge blank 1 Headstock Veneer Here are a couple of pictures of the Macasser that I have. In the raw, FB and Headstock ![]() Same guitar with finish and frets ![]() ![]() And a bridge blank from the same board ![]() So, if anyone has Jet Black to trade (prefer all parts from one person) please let me know, either here, PM or email me at rodtrueatshawdotca. I would certainly like to see pictures if you can also please. How I see this working, is you ship to me and I'll ship to you, that's it, simple trade. Trust is important too here ![]() I'll update this post when I've decided on the tradee ![]() Thanks. |

Rod, if you don't get any quick takers you might want to sweeten the pot. Quality jet black ebony is worth nearly twice striped ebony with current market conditions ![]() |

That's for sure...! Gabon Ebony is getting harder to get, and more expensive as a result. Then again, all exotics are going through the roof. I wouldn't doubt it if Mahogany will be $20/bf before you know it....maybe by the end of the year. |

The real reason I want the black black stuff (I would use the stuff I have as personally, I think the stripped stuff does look "cooler" on a guitar) is because the binding on my latest guitar is jet black and I think it would look odd using the Mac ebony with the Gaboon bindings. ![]() |

If you strike out Gilmer usually has a fairly decent stash of it. |

Impending trades not withstanding, would a dye like LMII sells not do the trick? http://www.lmii.com/CartTwo/thirdproducts.asp? CategoryName=Dyes&NameProdHeader=Fingerboard+Dye |

All things the same, I think that the Macasser that I have is nice looking wood and I would not dye it just to get black ebony which could be purchased. Yes I think it would work, but I don't see the logic in altering this pretty wood. |
